Information of witnesses severally taken and

acknowledged on behalf of Our Sovereign King George the Fifth at the House known as Police Court in Victoria, in the said Colony, on the 18th. day of March, in the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and twelve at 3.30 p.m. before Edward A. Irving, Esquire, Gentleman, Magistrate for the said Colony touching the death of George Attewell, English, aged 30 years, L.S.3, who shot himself in the W.C. at No. 5

Station on the 12th. March, 1912.

Harold Macfarlane sworn:-

Medical Officer in charge Victoria Mortuary. I held a

post-mortem examination on 13th. March, 1912, at 11 a.m. on a body

who was identified as that of George Attewell P.C. 15 by Sergeant

Grant. I found a bullet wound in right temple with an exit wound on

left temple. The cause of death was a bullet passing through the

brain. It would have been possible for deceased to have fired the shot.

The bullet might have been such as the one produced (unfired).

John Grant sworn:-

About 3 p.m. on 12th. March, 1912, I went to the latrine

No.5. Police Station. I there found the body of deceased, sitting on

the seat with the revolver produced held in his right hand. He had e

wound through the head, and had the appearance of having been dead

some little time. I found bullet produced 4 closets away on the floor. The revolver was cocked, one round in breach and 2 in the magazine. The shell produced was lying in front of the deceased. That was the after- -noon when an enquiry was being held into the death of a man alleged to have been shot by deceased. Dr. Koch happened to pass a few seconds after I found deceased, and I called him in. I had deceased's body removed to the Central Police Station where I searched it. I found the 2 letters produced addressed to Mr. Hutchison and to P.S. 16 Kendall. On 13th. instant. I identified the body at the mortuary in
